WELCOME TO COLORFUL COLORADO!!!

If you read my post from a couple of days ago, I think you'll understand why I wasn't able to clean the place up or bake anything yummy for you. But come back after we get this cancer thing down to a routine and I'll be sure and spend lots more time with you. However....I do have some time right now in my "less-than-8-hours-of-sleep-over-the-last-50+-hours" state of mind to give you a taste of my Colorado!
I grew up on the Eastern Plains of Colorado in a tiny farming town (pop. 847 on a good day). It was pretty flat and we had an inkling there were some mountains out there in the West. On a clear day we could see an indication that the ground did not stay flat forever! I love the plains - you can see forever and the fields really do wave at you when the wind blows. It's one of the most beautiful sights I know except maybe a buffalo grazing in that grass. Yes, we have buffalo there -- not wild, mind you, but they do exist and remind you of days gone by. The baby ones are especially precious.

When I graduated high school I thought I wanted more than this little town could offer and off I went to the big city of Denver. Denver really is an amazing place. You will find all kinds of areas in town that range from pretty hoity-toity to down home suburban America. I hear tell there is this big convention going on downtown right now but since I now live way north I'm really not sure.

About 8 years ago we had had enough of the big city and longed for something smaller -- not 847 type smaller but something around 50,000 might be good. We moved about 1 1/2 hours north of Denver and we are deliriously happy here. It's a wonderful place within just minutes of all kinds of outdoor activities. You can whitewater raft, hike, waterski, tube, mountain bike, or just enjoy the serenity of the crickets during the summer. Of course in the winter you have your skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, ice fishing, and my personal favorite, sitting in the lodge drinking "hot chocolate" (wink, wink). Sometimes it's hard to believe that I live where people save to take a vacation to.
It is truly God's Country around here!!
I hope you enjoy your stay and will come back real soon!!

I love the hot chocolate in winter... but my concern is making sure that the wee ones only drink *their* hot chocolate and don't get it mixed up with mine!

Wow, you have it all in Colorado! My aunt and uncle on have retired to Denver and love it. Although we miss them in Alabama, maybe we'll all get to visit them there someday. Right before they moved, my husband's family planned a Thanksgiving vacation to Breckinridge. It was so beautiful! I loved the views, sledding and shopping downtown. I was a little intimidated to try skiing, but my boys took right to it. I hope we'll get to visit sometime again!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. Kudos to the doctors who treated him and uncovered this rare cancer in such a short amount of time. And now with your BATW spotlight, new friends from all over the country are stopping by to pray with you. God is so good, and I hope you feel His presence through our prayers, comments and virtual hugs today!

Comin from where else? BATW! Yeah. Thanks for having us over to have a peek around. Love the blog and sorry to hear about your hubby. Prayers continue. I love the title of your blog. I want to make it my life Mantra. Is that how you spell mantra? I'm a bit of a control freak you see. It's hard for me to "give it to God" and not take it back. Nuts aye?!

Hello, "Angel Face," as you are known in our household since we always have new names and what we consider more appropriate names for our dearest friends! I have to check out what BATW is since you have so many friends visiting from there.

Okay, after your Colorado tour, I'm wondering what in the heck are we doing moving to Tennessee? You make me want to stay here with the long, cold winters, the shoveling of snow, the one-day golden aspen falls, and the desert dryness that requires (at my age) several applications of moisturizer a day so no one falls into my facial Grand Canyon replicas. Not to mention, the chasing of the hated tumbleweeds that Larry has taking a real dislike to.

Actually, Colorado is the best place that I have ever lived and if it wasn't for Larry retiring his snow shovel and lawn mower and moving to a 55+ active community, I'd be staying.

We continue to pray for your family and will standby available if you need us. We could help with your garden. Larry is an old farmer and I used to pretend to be until the slugs ate my zuchinni blossoms and my green tumb paint wore off!

Blessings of Peace and Love,
Kat or KatTaleTN...my new handle.

Oh bless your heart for even writing this. I can only imagine what you must be feeling right now. My mom was diagnosed with cancer, and I remember just being in a state of numb for days. You sound much more with it---much more ready to kick this thing in the patootie! I've offered up a prayer on behalf of you and your family and hope it offers a bit of peace and strength. I also hope that your blog continues to be an outlet for you--whether to share the struggle or forget about it.

and thanks for teaching me more about Colorado. I had no idea it was flat anywhere there!

I have stopped by via BATW and I love the way you described Colorado. When you think of it most people think of the Denver area. Thanks for bringing the other areas of Denver out in the open!

On a side note...Cancer is such a crappy thing to have to deal with. Your husband and family are in my prayers. I know how tough it can be to remain positive. Remember to take some time out for yourself so you can be there for you little peanut and hubby!

Thanks for a great tour. I've been to Colorado several times. Gorgeous!

Your header is SO appropriate right now--but do you still want to let God write your novel? Sounds like you are in for the ride of a lifetime, and I trust that in the end you will STILL be glad He is doing the writing. He must have been preparing you for this moment. Blessings to you and your family.

I read your Thursday update prior to reading the Colorado host post...I appreciate you giving us all a tour when you obviously have a great deal going on right now.
I hope all continues to go well for "Car Guy" and his treatments are a little more tolerable (he will love his port!!)

Hi Renee! I'm here from BATW. I'm sorry to hear about CarGuy's recent diagnosis but am glad to hear you all seem to be dealing with it well (as best as you can!). Cancer just, well sucks. If you can find the humor in the treatments that will help you all get thru it - and you will!
